You may be a part of the 18 million Americans who suffer from sleep apnea, according to the National Sleep Foundation. This disorder could be affecting your health and you don’t even know it. Your first warning sign may be extreme fatigue in the daytime with frequent headaches and sluggish mood. Characterized by the stoppage of breathing during sleep in between loud snoring or gasping, it’s these pauses in breathing that can be dangerous to your health and a top reason why you may not feel like yourself the next day. If you live alone, and find that you can’t breathe at night, you may not realize it’s due to sleep apnea. If you sleep with a spouse or partner, he or she may have clued you into the fact that you excessive snore and gasp for breath. That’s your first sign you should head to the doctor.
