6 Tips to Help with Snoring

6 Easy Snoring Tips
Snoring is a common occurrence. Around 45% of adults snore at least part of the time. Of course, there is a difference between the occasional snoring, and snoring so loud that you ‘wake the dead’. Instead of spending money on ‘snoring tools’ that may or may not help, just follow these six simple snoring tips to help fight your snores.Sleep Apnea Houston Texas

Changing Sleep Positions
When you lay on your back, the base of your tongue and soft palate to collapse. This causes the vibrating sound of snoring. A simple way to help fight this is to sleep on your side. This frees your airway during sleep.

Avoid Alcohol before Bed
When you drink alcohol, it changes the the resting tone of the back of your throat. Avoid drinking four to five hours before you go to bed to help reduce the likelihood of snoring.

Wash Sheets and Pillows Regularly
Snoring can sometimes be linked to dust mites and skin cells in your bedroom. If you suffer from allergies, this could prove to be a problem. All you have to do is regularly wash your pillows and sheets, and replace your pillows every six months or so.

Stay Hydrated
Staying hydrated may seem to be the answer to everything, but it can help with snoring. If you’re dehydrated when you sleep, the secretions in your nose and soft palate becomes stickier and harder to deal with. Drinking more throughout the day, not just before you go to sleep, can help.

Open Nasal Passages
Snoring doesn’t always occur because of your throat. It often happens because of an obstruction in your nose. Hot showers before bed, nasal strips, and humidifiers work wonders in helping to cut down on snoring.

Lose Weight
This may not work for everyone, since even skinny people can snore as well. However, if you have recently put on weight and find that your snoring has worsened, losing that weight can help relieve any added pressure on your throat.
